Hello fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, including several surprise game releases. This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's excellent news for us! We've got news, a review of today's eShop additions, and our daily sales updates – new deals and expiring offers. Let's dive in!
Partner/Indie World Showcase: A Bounty of Games
Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved a smart move, resulting in a flood of announcements. While I can't cover everything here, highlights include several surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I highly recommend watching the full video for a complete overview. There's something for everyone!
A fantastic surprise from the Direct! This third Castlevania compilation features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, along with an M2-developed remake that significantly improves upon the original. M2's superb emulation and extensive features make this an incredible value.
This Wario Land-inspired platformer is a whirlwind of frantic action. Conquer the five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to save your restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will adore this, but even those without strong Wario feelings should give it a try if they enjoy challenging platformers. We hope to review this one soon.
Another surprise release! It's Goat Simulator 3. If you're familiar with the series, you know what to expect. While I can't comment on the Switch performance, I know that more powerful systems have struggled in places. Buyer beware, but even if it runs poorly, the chaotic nature of the game might still be enjoyable. Silly goats, silly antics, and an open world – your Switch might just survive!
I'm convinced EA missed a huge opportunity by not bringing PopCap games to the Switch. But, Peglin scratches that Peggle itch perfectly! Already available on mobile, it's just as enjoyable on Switch. It's a brilliant blend of Peggle and turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is coming soon!
Kairosoft's latest shop sim uses the popular Doraemon license to add a fresh coat of paint to their familiar formula. The game pays homage to the source material, and you might even spot characters from the manga artist's other works. A charming addition to the genre.
More Pico Park for existing fans! Up to eight players can join in locally or online. The more, the merrier applies perfectly here. Solve puzzle stages through teamwork and clever thinking. A solid sequel, though unlikely to attract new players.
A budget-friendly rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple gameplay, enjoyable tunes, and a fun story.
A classic Sokoban-style puzzle game starring a penguin. One hundred levels of crate-pushing fun.
Over three hundred quirky physics puzzles! Use your character's abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems. Up to four players can join in locally or online.
