To add to this, Shift Up’s CEO Kim Hyung-Tae added that the company is "currently exploring the Stellar Blade PC version, but cannot comment on a possible release timing due to their contractual relationship." This statement is backed up by the company’s public filing of considering a PC release and sequel for the highly-successful IP.
Kim also states that the goal of the company when making Stellar Blade was to "create a high-value IP to ensure branding in the process of gathering users from around the world and forming a fandom." With this objective in mind, Kim also states that they avoided aspects like microtransactions that could potentially harm the brand and plan to show this in a way that the fans can understand.
Future Updates and Collaborations Are On the Horizon!
It doesn’t stop there, however, as Stellar Blade’s update and DLC roadmap have been unveiled as well. The game is scheduled to receive multiple updates throughout the year, such as the highly anticipated Photo Mode in August, stylish new costumes by October, and a major collaboration to be announced and revealed later this year.
With regards to the recently announced collaboration with Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, Kim stated that they are "reviewing various opportunities to create positive synergy with each IP, and I think we will be able to show you exciting results soon."
Sold About One Million Copies Worldwide!
It’s no secret that Stellar Blade has been one of the biggest surprises of the year, and it shows, as Shift Up estimates that they were able to sell around one million copies worldwide within two months of its release. Not only that, but the game has also ranked first in major markets as a PS5 exclusive, such as the US and UK, in a total of sixty different stores since its release back in late April.In addition to this, Stellar Blade has received the highest user rating for a PS5 exclusive on Metacritic, scoring a "Universal Acclaim" of 9.2 out of 10.
