A Steam leak has reportedly revealed details about the first downloadable content (DLC) for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant addition to the already anticipated title.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, the series' first foray into East Asia, features dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been turbulent, facing criticism and multiple delays. The latest delay pushed the launch date to March 20, 2025.
The leaked information, originating from a now-deleted Steam update, according to Insider Gaming, details "Claws of Awaji" as including a new region, weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities. The DLC is expected to add over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the "Claws of Awaji" DLC and a bonus mission.
The Leak and Recent Delay
This leak surfaced shortly after Ubisoft announced another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, the release was first postponed to February 14, 2025, and then again to March 20, 2025, citing the need for further polishing.
Ubisoft's Uncertain Future
As Ubisoft Quebec prepares for the game's launch, Ubisoft's parent company faces uncertainty amidst rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition. This follows a period of mixed results for the company, with several major titles underperforming financially.
