Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's popular 2020 release, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by the part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles his initial vision for Herodom.
Battledom introduces flexible RTS combat mechanics, allowing players to freely maneuver units across the battlefield. Players directly target enemies and manually operate siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations enhance the gameplay, adding a layer of tactical depth.
Players will amass coins to recruit units, initially equipped with basic weaponry and no armor. However, extensive customization options allow players to equip units with various weapons and armor pieces, impacting stats such as attack power, range, accuracy, and defense.
These items aren't found through exploration; instead, players must craft them within their village. Resource gathering—including wood, leather, and coal—is essential for crafting at the blacksmith, magician, or other village specialists.
Frenken is widely recognized for Herodom, which holds a 4.6 App Store rating. Herodom features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new hairstyles, body types, crops, and farm animals.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha test by downloading TestFlight. For updates and news, follow Sander Frenken on X or Reddit. His other games are available on the App Store.
