Larian Studios announced a January stress test for Baldur's Gate 3's Patch 8 via a Steam post. This test, accessible on PC via Steam and on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, aims to rigorously identify and address instability and gameplay issues before the official release. Mac and GOG users will not have access to this test. Registration is currently open.
A key focus of the stress test is cross-play functionality. Larian acknowledges the complexity of implementing cross-play in a game of Baldur's Gate 3's scale and encourages player participation to thoroughly test this new feature. Players are invited to recruit friends or join groups via the Larian Studios Discord server.
While Patch 8 marks the final major update, Larian reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing support for the game's modding community. Significant updates enhancing modding capabilities are planned, allowing players to create and share their own narratives. The September release of official mod tools has already resulted in over 70 million module downloads and over 3,000 mod uploads.
