To start 2025 off right, Final Fantasy 14 launched a Free Login Campaign that allowed players who have inactive accounts to return to the game for four days at no added cost. The new Free Login Campaign for Final Fantasy 14 runs until February 6, and is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.
The return of the Free Login Campaign came shortly after the launch of Patch 7.15, which introduced various side quests in the Dawntrail expansion, including the return of the Hildibrand series and a new Custom Delivery client. Ahead of the Free Login Campaign, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida shared an annual message with players on New Year's Day. Yoshida confirmed that Patches 7.2 and 7.3 would be released in 2025, along with smaller content updates. Yoshida also left a cryptic clue about where the main story of Dawntrail will be headed, leaving players to debate what the clue could mean for their favorite characters.
Although Final Fantasy 14 is in between major content updates, players who have taken time away from Eorzea can now come back for free. According to Square Enix, the Free Login Campaign for Final Fantasy 14 runs started on Thursday, January 9 at 3:00 AM Eastern. The campaign concludes on Thursday, February 6, at 9:59 AM Eastern, and offers players up to four consecutive days of free play time. Like past Free Login Campaigns, the 96-hour timer starts as soon as Final Fantasy 14 players log in via the game's launcher on a PC or console. To be eligible for the Free Login Campaign, players must have purchased and registered Final Fantasy 14 with their Square Enix account, and the account must be set as inactive for at least 30 days before the campaign. Additionally, players who have had their accounts suspended or canceled due to violating the game's terms of service are ineligible for the Free Login Campaign.
Square Enix encouraged Final Fantasy 14 players to check their account details and eligibility status via the Mog Station. While the Free Login Campaign is active, Final Fantasy 14 players can experience the annual Heavensturn event until January 16, which will reward a minion to all participants. Final Fantasy 14 will also release Patch 7.16 on January 21, which will bring the finale of the Dawntrail Role Quest side series.
Though Patch 7.2 is still several weeks away, returning Final Fantasy 14 players can use the Free Login campaign to catch up on Dawntrail's story. Only time will tell when Square Enix will reveal what's in store for Dawntrail in 2025.
