Greetings, game enthusiasts! Welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 29th, 2024. Today's roundup features a robust selection of new game releases, forming the core of this Thursday's update. We'll also explore a noteworthy list of sales. Unfortunately, no Nintendo Directs today, but let's dive into the games!

Featured New Releases

Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club ($49.99)

The Famicom Detective Club returns after a long hiatus with an all-new case! This latest installment stays true to the original games' style, both its strengths and weaknesses. Expect a fresh mystery and a presentation reminiscent of the recent Switch remakes. Can you crack this serial murder case? My review is on its way!

Gundam Breaker 4 ($59.99)

Mikhail's comprehensive review provides an in-depth look at Gundam Breaker 4's gameplay and Switch performance. In short: build and battle Gunpla! While the Switch port understandably lags behind other versions, it's still a satisfying experience. Read Mikhail's excellent review for the full scoop!

Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn ($19.99)

Tengo Project continues its impressive streak of remakes with this 8-bit classic. Unlike their previous 16-bit updates, Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn offers a more significant departure from its source material. However, fans of classic action-platformers will find much to appreciate. My review drops early next week.

Valfaris: Mecha Therion ($19.99)

A departure from its predecessor, Valfaris: Mecha Therion is a 2.5D side-scrolling shooter. While the genre shift might surprise some, it delivers a solid experience. Embrace the change, and you'll discover plenty to enjoy. A review is forthcoming!

Nour: Play With Your Food ($9.99)

I'll admit, I'm not entirely sure what this game entails. The food imagery is stunning, though. Is it about photography, puzzle-solving, or uncovering hidden secrets? Perhaps Mikhail will shed some light on this one.

Monster Jam Showdown ($49.99)

For monster truck enthusiasts, Monster Jam Showdown offers local and online multiplayer, numerous game modes, and more. While reception on other platforms has been mixed, it's a solid option for fans of the genre.

WitchSpring R ($39.99)

This appears to be a remake of the original WitchSpring, a mobile game often compared to the Atelier series. While previously a budget-friendly option, its current price point is closer to a full-fledged Atelier title, which might give some pause. However, it does look like the best-looking WitchSpring yet.

Depths of Sanity ($19.99)

Dive into this underwater exploration game with a fantastical horror twist. Unravel the mystery of your missing crew by exploring a vast, dangerous underwater world. Combat is involved, of course. This title has gained positive reviews on other platforms.

Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire ($19.99)

Voltaire, a vegan vampire, rebels against his bloodthirsty father. Gameplay involves farming and fending off his father's attacks. While I'm personally a bit fatigued by the genre, those with more enthusiasm for farming sims might enjoy this.

Marble Abduction! Patti Hattu ($11.79)

A classic marble roller game with 70 stages and 80 marbles to collect. Features secret collectibles and special challenges. If you enjoy high-speed marble runs, this one's for you.

Leo: The Firefighter Cat ($24.99)

A firefighting game geared towards a younger audience. Features 20 missions and a kid-friendly art style.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage ($21.99)

A grotesque action game starring a hoverboarding cat. While the gameplay is reportedly solid, the Switch version suffers from technical issues.

Arcade Archives Finalizer Super Transformation ($7.99)

A 1985 Konami vertical shooter featuring a transforming robot protagonist. A charming, retro shooter for those who appreciate classic arcade games.

EGGCONSOLE Xanadu Scenario II PC-8801mkIISR ($6.49)

An early expansion pack with new content for Xanadu. Features music by the legendary Yuzo Koshiro.

The Backrooms: Survival ($10.99)

A horror/survival/roguelite game best experienced with online multiplayer (up to 10 players).

Can of Wormholes ($19.99)

A clever puzzle game where you're a sentient tin can dealing with worms. Features 100 hand-crafted puzzles.

Ninja I & II ($9.99)

A pair of NES-style microgames with a ninja theme and competitive local multiplayer.

Dice Make 10! ($3.99)

A surprisingly fun puzzle game with two modes: falling blocks and placement puzzles. The goal is to make lines of dice that add up to ten.
