Gran Saga Shutting Down Next Month

Gran Saga is shutting down on April 30th, 2025, ending its brief international run. In-app purchases are already disabled, and players have until May 30th to request refunds for past purchases (though success is not guaranteed depending on usage and other circumstances).

Launched in Japan in 2021 to considerable success, the global version, which debuted in November 2024, lasted less than six months. The closure is attributed to financial instability and an inability to sustain service in the highly competitive global mobile gaming market. Established games with dedicated player bases make it challenging for newcomers to succeed without a truly innovative offering. Despite its initial Japanese success, Gran Saga failed to maintain that momentum internationally.

This closure reflects a broader trend of gacha RPG shutdowns. The oversaturated market makes it difficult for new or niche games to thrive long-term. Players often remain loyal to established titles.
