GTA 5 Enhanced: Steam's Lowest-Rated GTA Title

Rockstar's enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto 5, launched in March, hasn't exactly been a smash hit on Steam. The "Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced" edition currently boasts a mixed user review rating, with only 54% of the nearly 20,000 reviews registering as positive. This is a stark contrast to the original GTA 5, now unlisted on Steam, which held a "very positive" rating. In fact, this enhanced version holds the unfortunate title of worst-reviewed GTA game on Steam, significantly underperforming even Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition's 66% positive rating.

This free upgrade for PC players includes features previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA Online: Hao's Special Works upgrades, new vehicles, animal encounters, and GTA+ Membership access. It also boasts improved graphics and faster loading times, along with the ability to migrate Story Mode and Online progress.

However, the account migration process is proving problematic for many, generating a significant portion of the negative reviews. Players report encountering the error message: "The GTA Online profile associated with this Rockstar Games account is not eligible for migration at this time." This has led to considerable frustration, with some players threatening to abandon hundreds of hours of gameplay. Many negative reviews cite Rockstar support's inability to resolve these migration issues.

Despite these issues, GTA 5 Enhanced remains incredibly popular on Steam, peaking at 187,059 concurrent players since its release. The problems, however, have raised concerns about the upcoming PC release of Grand Theft Auto 6, fueling anxieties among PC gamers about potential launch difficulties.

Currently, GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S only. A former Rockstar developer recently attempted to explain the delayed PC release, urging patience and understanding. Meanwhile, Take-Two Interactive is suing PlayerAuctions for selling unauthorized GTA 5 content. Finally, Rockstar recently acquired Video Games Deluxe, renaming it Rockstar Australia.
