Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6, remains confident that the highly anticipated game will launch in Fall 2025. Dive deeper into GTA 6's expected release timeline and the impressive performance of other titles from Take-Two Interactive.
During the Q3 Earnings Conference Call on February 7, 2025, Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, reaffirmed that GTA 6 is on track for a Fall 2025 release. While acknowledging the inherent risks in game development, Zelnick expressed optimism, stating, "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things." Despite this, he remains confident, emphasizing, "We feel really good about it." Zelnick refrained from sharing specifics about the game's development but praised Rockstar's dedication to perfection and the competitive spirit within the company.
Zelnick highlighted the promising year ahead for Take-Two Interactive, with several key releases slated for 2025. "Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two," he said. Notable releases include Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, which launched in Early Access with an official release scheduled for February 11th, Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, GTA 6 in the Fall, and Borderlands 4 before the year's end. Zelnick expressed high hopes for these titles, noting their potential to significantly impact the company and the gaming industry at large. Looking forward, Take-Two Interactive anticipates record levels of Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027.
The GTA franchise remains Take-Two Interactive's flagship series, with GTA 5 selling over 210 million units worldwide to date. The game's online component, GTA Online, enjoyed a successful quarter, particularly with its holiday update, Agents of Sabotage. The GTA+ membership program also saw a 10% year-over-year increase in subscribers.
Other titles from Take-Two Interactive also performed well in the third quarter. NBA 2K25 sold over 7 million units, with significant increases in player engagement, including a 30% rise in Recurrent Consumer Spending, nearly 20% in Daily Active Users, and almost 10% in Monthly Active Users. Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to grow its player base, surpassing 70 million units sold, and Red Dead Online's updates, including the popular Halloween pass, have led to record concurrent player numbers on Steam, reaching 99,993 according to SteamDB.
There has been speculation about Steven Ogg, the actor who portrayed Trevor in GTA 5, disliking his character. In an interview on the Inside You podcast, Ogg dispelled these rumors, stating that he doesn't mind playing Trevor but finds it odd when fans call him by his character's name. "When people call you by your character name, it's kinda weird because I kinda get it, but I'm also like meh," Ogg explained. He praised Trevor as "a great character" and mentioned his ongoing friendship with his co-stars Shawn Fonteno (Franklin) and Ned Luke (Michael), with whom he recently attended a Comic Con.
In a previous interview with Screen Rant, Ogg humorously suggested Trevor could appear in GTA 6 only to be killed off early in the game. However, he clarified that he hasn't recorded any lines for GTA 6 and is unaware of any plans for Trevor's return.
GTA 6 is expected to launch in Fall 2025, though no specific release date has been officially announced. Stay updated with the latest news on GTA 6 by visiting our dedicated page.
