Rome boasts Italy's largest video game museum! GAMM, the Game Museum, is now open to the public in Piazza della Repubblica. The museum is the creation of Marco Accordi Rickards, a writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus.
Rickards is deeply committed to preserving and celebrating video game history. He describes GAMM as an immersive experience blending historical context, technological innovation, and interactive gameplay. GAMM builds upon the legacy of Vigamus, another Roman gaming museum that has attracted over two million visitors since 2012.
This expansive museum, covering 700 square meters across two floors, is divided into three captivating thematic zones. Before exploring the details, take a quick virtual tour!
Explore GAMM's Interactive Zones:
GAMMDOME: A dynamic digital space featuring interactive exhibits and authentic gaming artifacts, including consoles and donated items. The experience is built around the 4E Concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.
Path of Arcadia (PARC): Journey back to the golden age of arcade games! Relive the classics from the late 1970s through the 1980s, with a touch of early 1990s nostalgia.
Historical Playground (HIP): Delve into the mechanics of game design. This area offers an in-depth look at game structure, interactive elements, and design principles – a behind-the-scenes exploration of gaming history.
