Despite efforts to keep details under wraps by requiring participants to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), EA's upcoming untitled Battlefield game has leaked online anyway. The internet is now buzzing with dozens of videos and screenshots from the game's closed playtesting, giving us a sneak peek at what players have been experiencing.

As previously reported when these leaks first surfaced, the footage appears to confirm a "modern" setting teased earlier by Vince Zampella, setting this installment apart from its predecessors. A quick browse through the Battlefield subreddit reveals intense firefights, showcasing the game's signature destructible environments and introducing new mechanics such as the ability to hang off vehicles and drag wounded teammates to safety.

Surprisingly, EA has taken a relatively hands-off approach to these leaks. Typically, game publishers are quick to clamp down on such unauthorized disclosures, especially when pre-release footage might display incomplete animations, unfinished user interfaces, and subpar graphics. Yet, despite the clear breach of confidentiality agreements by those uploading the content, EA has not yet issued any takedown notices.

This leniency might stem from the positive reception the leaked content has received, in stark contrast to the lukewarm reception of Battlefield 2042. Fans seem pleased with what they've seen so far, with many expressing their excitement online.

One player said, "I am scared to say that but this game is shaping up very damn well. I hope there are no catches…", while another added, "The animations of the weapons moving around while running / doing anything look better than 2042 to me."

Another enthusiastic player exclaimed, "Dude, even in a pre-alpha state, the explosions, bullets, and projectiles whizzing by, buildings crumbling down, dust kicking up. This has so much potential!"

Someone else opined, "I can't get over how good the sounds and the destruction look at alpha."

EA expects its next Battlefield game to launch in the fiscal year 2026, which translates to a release window between April 2025 and March 2026. Following our first official unveiling just last month, it's now confirmed that the new Battlefield will feature the return of a traditional, single-player, linear campaign, a move that has been warmly received by fans disappointed with its absence in the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042.
