Marvel Rivals Now Releasing New Heroes Every Month Starting Season 3

The developers of Marvel Rivals have exciting news for fans: starting from Season 3, they plan to introduce new heroes every month, significantly ramping up the game's content. This change aims to keep the game as engaging and fresh as it was at launch. Read on to discover more about these upcoming changes, new characters, and skins.

Marvel Rivals Upcoming Changes

New Heroes Every Month

NetEase, the game's developer, announced in the Marvel Rivals’ Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4 that they will transition from releasing two heroes per season to one new hero each month. This decision was made after extensive internal discussions and evaluations, as explained by Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong.

Starting from Season 3, the duration of each season will be shortened from three months to two. This shift allows for the introduction of a new hero each month, as Guangguang noted, "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month."

The pressure to maintain the game's excitement, influenced by discussions on social media, has driven these changes. Additionally, the developers are considering adding new game modes to further enhance the experience. If implemented, this could result in up to 12 new heroes being added to the game annually.

Balancing these frequent hero releases will be challenging, but Guangguang emphasized in a March 14 interview with PC Gamer that key metric data across all game modes, including pick rates, win rates, stats, and abilities, will be crucial for their balancing efforts.

Season 2, titled Hellfire Gala, introduces the new hero Emma Frost, an X-Men villain with telepathic abilities and the power to turn things into diamonds. In this season, Marvel Heroes are invited by Emma Frost to the Mutant haven, the Living Island Krakoa, for a lavish celebration inspired by Marvel’s Hellfire Club, a group of the wealthy and elite who influence world events.

The trailer for Season 2 previews new skins for characters like Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther, all dressed in fancy and formal attire suitable for the gala.

Marvel Rivals announced via Twitter (X) on April 4 that new skins for Thor and Hawkeye are now available. Thor's Lord of Asgard skin draws inspiration from his revival by Odin in the comics, while Hawkeye's Ronin skin reflects his time as a vigilante samurai.
