Nexus Mods, a popular modding platform, finds itself at the center of a heated controversy after removing over 500 mods in a single month. The removal of mods for Marvel Rivals that replaced Captain America's head with images of Joe Biden and Donald Trump ignited a firestorm of user reaction.

The platform's owner, known as TheDarkOne, clarified the situation in a private Reddit discussion. He explained that both the Biden and Trump mods were removed simultaneously to prevent any accusations of partisan favoritism. TheDarkOne noted the curious silence from YouTube commentators on this simultaneous removal.

However, the situation escalated. Following the removal, TheDarkOne reported receiving a barrage of threats and hateful messages. He stated, "We're receiving death threats, being called pedophiles, and subjected to all sorts of abuse simply because someone chose to inflame this issue."

This isn't the first time Nexus Mods has faced backlash over mod removals. A similar incident occurred in 2022, involving the removal of a Spider-Man Remastered mod that replaced rainbow flags with American flags. At that time, the site's owners publicly declared their commitment to inclusivity and their policy of removing content that undermines diversity.
