NetEase Games has announced a ban on keyboard and mouse adapters in Marvel Rivals on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. The company cites unfair advantages gained from increased control sensitivity and aiming assistance as the reason for the ban.
Adapters such as XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad input from keyboard and mouse controls, are specifically targeted. This creates a significant competitive imbalance, particularly when auto-targeting is enabled.
NetEase's statement clarifies their stance: "We define adapters as devices or programs that emulate gamepad control using a keyboard and mouse. This creates an imbalance in the game, especially in competitive modes." Sophisticated detection tools are now in place to identify and penalize adapter use with account bans.
Separately, a correlation has been observed between higher FPS and increased ping in Marvel Rivals. While less noticeable at lower ping levels, a jump to 150ms from a typical 90ms can severely impact gameplay. This appears linked to frame rate. Currently, players are advised to wait for a game patch and experiment to find the optimal FPS/ping ratio, with some suggesting maintaining an FPS around 90 as a temporary solution.
