Let's revisit our Marvel Snap (Free) deck-building strategies for this month's edition. A new season brings fresh challenges, and while last month saw a period of relative balance, new cards always shake things up. Remember, today's winning deck might be obsolete tomorrow, so these guides offer a snapshot of the meta, not a definitive strategy.
These decks represent top-tier performance, assuming a complete card collection. We'll cover five top-performing decks, plus a couple of more accessible and fun alternatives.
Interestingly, most Young Avengers cards haven't significantly impacted the meta. Kate Bishop remains strong, and Marvel Boy boosted 1-cost Kazoo decks, but others haven't caused major shifts. The new Amazing Spider-Season and the Activate ability, however, are game-changers, promising a vastly different meta next month.
Cards Included: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
The rise of Kazoo to the top tier is unexpected. This deck's core is familiar: deploy low-cost cards, then buff with Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy adds extra buffs, and Gilgamesh greatly benefits. Kate Bishop provides additional placement options and reduces Mockingbird's cost. A strong performer, but its long-term viability remains to be seen.
Cards Included: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
The Silver Surfer deck persists, with minor adjustments. The Nova/Killmonger combo provides early boosts. Forge enhances Brood's clones. Gwenpool buffs hand cards, Shaw gains strength from buffs, Hope provides extra energy, Cassandra Nova drains opponent's power, and the Surfer/Absorbing Man combo delivers a powerful finish. Copycat replaces Red Guardian, proving a versatile asset.
Cards Included: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype remains surprisingly strong. This deck features cards with Ongoing abilities, boosted by Spectrum's final-turn buff. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing combo is effective, with Luke protecting cards from US Agent. This deck is easy to play, and Cosmo's utility is likely to increase.
Cards Included: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
A classic Apocalypse-style Discard deck, featuring Moon Knight (enhanced post-buff). Morbius and Dracula are key cards, aiming for an end-game with Apocalypse, leading to a powerful Dracula and widespread Morbius effects. The Collector adds potential cheeky plays.
Cards Included: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
The Destroy deck remains largely unchanged, with Attuma's recent buff making him a strong addition. The strategy focuses on destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, gaining extra energy with X-23, and finishing with Nimrod or Knull. The absence of Arnim Zola reflects the increasing prevalence of counter-measures.
Now, for some more accessible options:
Cards Included: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
This deck utilizes Darkhawk's strengths, combining him with Korg and Rockslide to manipulate the opponent's deck. Spider-Ham, Cassandra Nova, and discard cards synergize well, creating opportunities for inexpensive Stature plays.
Cards Included: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A beginner-friendly version of the Kazar deck. While not as consistently successful, it provides valuable experience with the Kazar/Blue Marvel combo and features Onslaught for added power.
This month's meta is interesting, with classic decks returning to prominence. However, the new Activate ability and cards will likely shift the balance significantly by October. The impact of future balance changes remains to be seen. For now, happy snapping!
