Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide

Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially since the release of the VR title, Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often perplexing players due to unclear objectives and the station's layout. The mission begins after the anomaly clears the nosalis horde in the preceding mission. Khan uses a railcar to reach the next station, Turgenevskaya (aka The Cursed Station).

Locating the Bomb

After exiting the railcar, follow Khan to the defenders guarding the barricaded escalators. They'll explain that an explosives team disappeared while attempting to collapse the tunnel, preventing further nosalis attacks. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. You'll likely need to retreat at least once during your search.

The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows straight ahead; they'll damage you. Once you have the bomb, either proceed directly to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if outnumbered.

Destroying the Tunnel

To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective) and wait for the cutscene. Artyom automatically plants and lights the fuse; escape quickly to avoid the blast. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb in the same tunnel area will achieve the same result. Note: even with the tunnel destroyed, nosalises will still infiltrate from other routes.

Securing the Airlock

After destroying the tunnel, another objective remains: collapsing the airlock. As mentioned by Khan and the defenders, this prevents further mutant entry. Ascend the stairs to the right of the main platform to the torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises here.

To destroy the airlock, interact with the support columns. Artyom will plant a pipe bomb; evacuate immediately after lighting the fuse. With both entrances destroyed, follow Khan to a shrine room, leading to the "Armory" mission.
