"Netflix Stories Canceled, Yet Still Playable!"

Netflix has announced the official closure of its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories banner, marking the end of a brief yet intriguing foray into narrative gaming. This decision might come as a surprise to many, considering the solid player base these games had cultivated. So, what led to the cancellation of Netflix Stories? Let's dive in to understand the full story!

The news, initially reported by Variety, is part of a larger strategic pivot at Netflix Games. The company is now shifting its focus toward mobile titles that include party games, games for kids, mainstream releases, and more interactive experiences designed for TV play.

Despite this shift, Boss Fight Entertainment, the studio behind the Netflix Stories series, will continue to collaborate with Netflix on other projects, such as the upcoming Squid Game: Unleashed.

Is Netflix Stories Shutting Down?

Despite receiving some criticism, the Netflix Stories games consistently ranked among the most-played titles on the Netflix Games platform. Recent reports indicate that they held the fourth position in the Netflix Games top 10 carousel, which ranks games based on playtime rather than downloads.

Looking ahead, the final interactive title in the Netflix Stories lineup will be Love Is Blind: NYC. After its release, no new games will be developed under the Netflix Stories banner. This announcement closely follows the reveal of the next planned game, The Love Contract, which was set to launch on April 8th but has now been cancelled. Unlike its predecessors, The Love Contract was not based on any existing Netflix IP; it was an original romance story involving an actress navigating a complex love triangle with a Hollywood star and a billionaire, set against a backdrop of fame, scandal, and fake dating.

Although the development of new Netflix Stories games has ceased, the existing titles will remain accessible to players. You can still enjoy games such as Love Is Blind, Emily in Paris, Money Heist, Love Is Blind: Winter's Kiss, Perfect Match, Sex Education, Selling Sunset, Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and The Perfect Couple. However, planned sequels for Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia have been cancelled.

That's the latest on Netflix Stories! If you're a fan of Netflix shows and want to explore their interactive side, you can still find these games on the Google Play Store.
