Team Ninja's long-awaited Ninja Gaiden 4 is finally in development, thanks to a collaboration between Team Ninja, Koei Tecmo, and PlatinumGames, facilitated by Xbox's Phil Spencer. Spencer initiated discussions as early as 2017, aiming to revive the franchise. After years of brainstorming and searching for the right creative partner, PlatinumGames, renowned for titles like Bayonetta and NieR: Automata, was selected for their expertise in fast-paced action.
The surprise announcement came alongside a re-release of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, enhanced for Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC. Initial trailers showcase Ryu Hayabusa returning as the protagonist in a brutal, action-packed adventure. Ninja Gaiden 4 introduces innovative mechanics, including swift traversal using wires and rails, setting it apart from previous entries.
While DOOM: The Dark Ages dominated the Developer_Direct event, the reveal of Ninja Gaiden 4, slated for a Fall 2025 release, generated significant excitement. This collaboration promises a thrilling return to the iconic Ninja Gaiden franchise.
