A recent report from industry insider NateTheHate suggests a significant expansion of Microsoft's multi-platform strategy. The report claims that Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are in development for both the PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, with potential releases slated for 2025.
This follows Microsoft's February 2024 initiative to bring first-party titles to other consoles. Games like Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves have already made the jump, along with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (October 2024) and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (Spring 2025 for PS5).
NateTheHate's report indicates that Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a compilation of six Halo games, is being ported to both the PS5 and Switch 2. The same source also predicts a multi-platform release of a Microsoft Flight Simulator title, likely MFS 2024, also targeting a 2025 launch on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles.
This news is supported by another prominent leaker, Jez Corden, who tweeted that "way more" Xbox games will be arriving on PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025. Corden has consistently voiced his belief that the era of exclusive Xbox titles is concluding.
The future of Call of Duty on Nintendo platforms also remains relevant. Microsoft's ten-year agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty games to their consoles, announced in late 2022, is likely awaiting the launch of the more powerful Switch 2 before releasing any titles.
