Omori Cancels Switch and PS4 Physical Release in Europe

Omori’s esteemed European publisher, Meridiem Games, regrettably cancels the game’s physical debut in Europe. Read on to learn more about the cancellation and the reason why many fans are disheartened by this news.

Omori’s Switch and PS4 Physical Release AnnulmentA Series of Unfortunate Delays

Omori’s physical release for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Europe has been abolished, as announced by the Spanish publisher Meridiem Games on Twitter(X), citing technical difficulties with multilingual European localization.

When a Twitter(X) user asked about what kind of problems the developers had regarding the localization, the publishers said that it could not give any more information apart from what was communicated in the post.

Fans have noted that stores like Amazon listed the game’s European physical release as March 2023. However, it was delayed to December of the same year, and again to March 2024. Those who pre-ordered received an email from Amazon saying that the release would again be pushed back to January 2025. Unfortunately, these delays culminated in today's announcement of the release's termination.

The cancellation has undoubtedly dismayed many fans, especially as it would have been the first time that the game would officially be playable in Spanish and other European languages. European fans can still physically own the Switch and PS4 versions of Omori, but only by importing a US copy of it.

Omori Cancels Switch and PS4 Physical Release in Europe

Omori is an RPG following a young boy named Sunny who isolates himself after a traumatic event. The game alternates between the real world and Sunny’s dream world, where he takes on the persona Omori. Initially released on PC in December 2020, the game expanded to Switch, PS4, and Xbox platforms in 2022. However, due to an inappropriate T-shirt design that OMOCAT sold in their website back in 2013, Xbox removed the game from its platform, leaving it unavailable for Xbox players.
