After 26 years of thrilling adventures in the Pokémon anime, the iconic protagonist Ash Ketchum, who famously remained 10 years old throughout his journey, has finally bid farewell. However, in a surprising twist, The Pokémon Company is breaking from tradition with its new series, Pokémon Horizons, by allowing its new protagonists, Liko and Roy, to grow up.

The latest news from the CoroCoro magazine has unveiled the upcoming arc of Pokémon Horizons, titled "Mega Voltage," which will feature a significant "time skip." This development will age Liko and Roy by approximately three years, introducing new designs that depict them as taller and more mature.

While it's uncertain if we'll see an older Ash in this arc or future episodes, fans are buzzing with speculation about potential future appearances.

The Mega Voltage arc will also reintroduce Mega Evolutions, aligning with their return in the upcoming game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Additionally, Liko's Floragato has evolved into Meowscarada, and Roy now commands a shiny Mega Lucario.

Notably, Friede, the captain of the Rising Volt Tacklers, is absent from the reveal. His partner, Pikachu, is seen wearing Friede's goggles, which appear to be cracked, hinting at a possible unfortunate event involving Friede.

The Mega Voltage arc is set to premiere in Japan on April 11, although fans in the United States will have to wait longer due to the delay in the English dub. Our previous review of Pokémon Horizons Season 2 scored it a 5/10, critiquing its hesitance to fully embrace its potential. With the introduction of the time skip, there's hope that the Rising Volt Tacklers will bring renewed vigor to the series.
