This milestone follows the game's earlier achievement of 8 million sales, a testament to its popularity. The surge in sales is likely attributed to the February 2023 release of the Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition and a subsequent iOS release late in 2023.

The remake, a reimagining of the 2005 classic, follows Leon S. Kennedy's mission to rescue the President's daughter, Ashley Graham, from a sinister cult. This iteration significantly shifted the gameplay towards action, marking a departure from the series' survival horror origins.

According to Alex Aniel, author of the fan book Itchy, Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 4's sales are the fastest in the franchise's history.
