Mastering Fishing in Rune Slayer: A Comprehensive Guide
If you doubted Rune Slayer’s MMORPG credentials, its fishing mechanic should settle the matter. This guide will walk you through the surprisingly unintuitive process of catching fish.
Recommended Prep Work: Embark on Simon's Quest
Screenshot by The EscapistBefore you cast a line, accept the fishing quest from Simon the Fisherman (the white-haired NPC near the Barracuda's swimming area). He tasks you with catching 5 items, rewarding you with a Tackle Box upon completion.
Gear Up: Acquiring Your Fishing Supplies
Screenshot by The EscapistPurchase a Wood Fishing Rod and at least 5 Worms (10 is recommended) from Simon. Crucially, you don't equip the bait; simply keep the Worms in your inventory. Each successful catch consumes one Worm. A minimum of 5 Worms seems necessary for successful fishing. Placing them in your hotbar aids inventory management.
The Art of the Catch: Mastering the Mechanics
Gif by The EscapistSelect your Wood Fishing Rod (placing it in your hotbar suffices). Hold M1 to cast your line into the water (Simon's pier is ideal). Watch the bobber; when it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch.
Important Note: Success isn't guaranteed. You might catch nothing, or even junk items, which still count towards your quest completion.
Quest Completion and Tackle Box Acquisition
Screenshot by The EscapistAfter catching 5 items (fish or otherwise), return to Simon to complete the quest and receive your Tackle Box. Store your remaining Worms within the Tackle Box to free up inventory space.
