Just Shapes & Beats is out now on iOS
The hit indie bullet hell comes to the palm of your hand
Experience dozens of stages and an original soundtrack to dodge and die to
While the new hotness may be bullet heaven, I'm sure there are more than a few of you who prefer the hellish. If so, and you're a veteran of the genre, you'll more than likely be excited to find out that longtime hit Just Shapes & Beats is finally making its way to mobile more than half a decade after release.
Out now on iOS, Just Shapes & Beats bills itself as a chaotic musical co-op bullet hell. Join up to four other players in navigating a musically-scored obstacle course as you dodge, dive and weave. Boasting 48 stages and 20 tracks from chiptune and EDM artists, it's not hard to see why JSB sits at an overwhelmingly positive rating on Steam.
Yes, it's not hard to see why it's so popular. But this is also a release that needs to be experienced for itself, especially given how tight-lipped the devs are. It seems Berzerk Studio are not the kind to toot their own horn, but the bevvy of accolades Just Shapes & Beats has received speaks for themselves.
Live, die, remixDoing a bit of research on Just Shapes & Beats (I knew the name of course, but a little background never hurts) one thing that stood out to me was how many enthusiasts seem to believe that it's since been forsaken. However, while a lack of updates may be evidence for that, I'd wager that Berzerk Studio might have more in store for Just Shapes & Beats with this mobile launch, if not some more content too. But even if it solely comes as is, I reckon this is a launch many of you will be thrilled by, for good reason.
