Expand Your Stardew Valley Farm with Multiple Pets!
One of the joys of Stardew Valley farming is the diverse range of animals you can keep. This guide details how to acquire multiple pets beyond your initial companion.
Unlocking Multiple Pets:
Initially, you can adopt one pet (cat or dog). The 1.6 update allows for multiple pets, but you must first maximize your existing pet's friendship. Daily care is key: fill their water bowl (except on rainy/snowy days) and pet them (indicated by a heart). Monitor their friendship level via the "Animals" tab in the pause menu. Once maxed, Marnie will contact you about adopting additional pets (Year 2 if you skipped the initial pet).
Adopting Multiple Pets:
After receiving Marnie's message, visit her shop (9 am - 4 pm, closed Mon/Tue). Select "Adopt Pets" from the dialogue options. You'll find twelve pet licenses:
Pet License | Cost |
---|---|
Brown Cat | 40,000g |
Grey Cat | 40,000g |
Orange Cat | 40,000g |
White Cat | 40,000g |
Black Cat | 40,000g |
Brown Dog w/ Blue Collar | 40,000g |
Brown Dog (Shepherd) | 40,000g |
Brown Dog w/ Red Collar | 40,000g |
Black & White Dog w/ Red Bandana | 40,000g |
Dark Brown Dog | 40,000g |
Green Turtle | 60,000g |
Purple Turtle | 500,000g |
Essential Pet Supplies:
Before adopting, visit Robin's shop to commission Pet Bowls (5,000g & 25 Hardwood each). These are crucial for maintaining pet friendship and preventing them from running away.
Marnie also sells optional decorative items like doghouses and cat trees. These don't affect friendship levels.
