Here are some things we wish we'd known from the start:
Avoid Unprovoked PvP
Screenshot by The EscapistInitially, the full-loot PvP aspect was concerning. Thankfully, it's not as brutal as feared. Death doesn't result in item loss, regardless of the killer. However, attacking players incurs a bounty. Higher bounties mean greater item loss upon your death. Therefore, unless you have a compelling reason (or a strong party), avoid attacking other players.
Craft Bags Immediately
Screenshot by The EscapistInventory and bank space are severely limited. Fortunately, you can craft bags. Two can be equipped simultaneously, starting with the Cotton Bag. Find Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (be cautious of southern mobs). Each Cotton Bag provides 10 extra slots – craft them early!
Pet Deaths Are Temporary
Screenshot by The EscapistContrary to popular belief, pets don't die permanently. After reaching zero health, they have a 5-minute summon cooldown. Check this cooldown using the 'T' key. Also, storing and retrieving your pet at the Stable Master provides a quick heal (you have one free slot).
Accept All Quests
Screenshot by The EscapistThe sheer number of quests can be overwhelming, but most are simple "kill X" tasks. To streamline progress, accept every quest you encounter, including those from the Job board. Often, multiple quests can be completed simultaneously.
Craft Everything At Least Once
Screenshot by The EscapistPrioritize crafting necessities, but also experiment with crafting items you don't immediately need. Initial crafting often unlocks more advanced crafting options. For example, smelting Iron Ore unlocked new Iron Armor recipes for us.
Join a Guild
While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies require group efforts. Guilds provide the easiest way to find groups. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild and tackle challenging foes together.
