The Chinese Room recently shared an exciting development update for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2, diving deep into the lore of the vampire hunters. This faction, known as the Information Awareness Bureau (IAB), operates on a shadow budget without official government support. They hunt vampires, referred to as "Hollow Ones," under the guise of "training exercises" and "counter-terrorism efforts."
Leading the charge in Seattle is Agent Baker, the head of the IAB, who is known for her disciplined pragmatism and unwavering dedication to eradicating vampires. Dubbed "The Hen" by her loyal followers, she meticulously investigates strange occurrences and delves into historical data to unravel the mysteries of the hidden vampire society.
The hunters are a formidable force, operating as a well-coordinated unit. They vigilantly guard their base with external and internal defenses, making it nearly impossible to face them alone. Their tactics include the use of spotlights, portable radios for communication, and in combat, they wield thermic batons that can bypass defensive maneuvers. Additionally, they deploy phosphorous grenades to flush out enemies from cover and employ sniper crossbows that launch explosive bolts, causing severe damage unless quickly removed.
Despite their prowess, the hunters have vulnerabilities. They are physically weaker than ghouls and vampires, which can be exploited using specific skills. For instance, players with the Fire skill can intercept grenades or bolts mid-flight and hurl them back at the hunters. Another tactical advantage is available through the Ventru clan's powers, allowing players to possess an enemy and turn them against their own team.
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is set to launch in the first half of 2025, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This update not only enriches the game's narrative but also provides players with strategic insights to navigate the challenges posed by the IAB.
