The highly anticipated return of World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been postponed due to unforeseen technical difficulties. While Blizzard initially aimed for a launch before the end of January 14th, 2025, no new release time has been announced.
Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was set to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected issues arose during the planned server maintenance, extending the downtime beyond the initial eight-hour estimate. Community manager Kaivax confirmed the delay, citing these unforeseen problems.
Plunderstorm Launch Timeline:
Despite the delay, World of Warcraft's regular servers are back online. Players can utilize this time to engage in other in-game activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the Turbulent Timeways event, or pursuing other content within the Dragonflight expansion.
The upcoming Plunderstorm iteration includes new features like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. These additions may be contributing to the current delays.
The postponement hasn't impacted the availability of Plunderstorm Twitch Drops. Viewers can earn the Coward's Azure Target transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch stream before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm, allowing fans to earn the reward while awaiting the event's return.
