Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
This follows a recent string of issues plaguing Warzone, including a December 2024 matchmaking outage and ongoing reports of cheating and bugs. The latest issue, reported on January 6th, prompted an investigation by Raven Software.
Although the underlying bug remains unfixed (as of January 9th, according to their Trello board), a crucial update suspends Skill Rating penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player concerns about unjust penalties caused by the unintentional crashes. Penalties will still apply for players leaving mid-match.
Developer Response and Ongoing Concerns
The temporary fix alleviates the immediate frustration of unwarranted penalties. However, the persistent bugs, even after a major January 2025 update, continue to cause disruption in Ranked play. This highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the Call of Duty: Warzone development team in addressing numerous glitches and maintaining a smooth player experience. While the temporary fix is welcome, a complete resolution remains eagerly awaited by the player base.
