Russian Checkers 8×8

In Russian checkers, the game starts with white moving first. Checkers move and capture diagonally on dark squares. Capturing an opponent's piece is mandatory when possible, and you can capture both forward and backward. Kings have the freedom to move and capture along any diagonal. When capturing, the Turkish strike rule applies, allowing only one capture per move. If multiple capture options exist, you can choose any, not necessarily the longest sequence. A checker reaching the opponent's edge becomes a king and can immediately play as one if possible.

A draw is declared in Russian checkers under these conditions:

• If a player with checkers and three or more kings cannot capture the opponent's single king within 15 moves after the balance of forces is established.
• If the balance of forces in a position with kings does not change (no captures, no new kings) over 30 moves in 4 and 5 piece endings, or 60 moves in 6 and 7 piece endings.
• If a player with three pieces (any combination of kings and checkers) cannot capture the opponent's single king on the "high road" within 5 moves.
• If only kings are moved for 15 consecutive moves without any captures or new kings.
• If the same position repeats three or more times with the same player to move.

International Checkers 10×10

In International checkers, white also starts the game, and pieces move and capture on dark squares. Capturing is mandatory when possible, and it can be done in both directions. Kings can move and capture along any diagonal. The Turkish strike rule applies here as well, limiting captures to one per move. The majority rule requires you to choose the capture that removes the most pieces if multiple options exist. If a regular checker reaches the opponent's edge during a capture, it continues as a regular checker without becoming a king. However, if it reaches the edge by a move or capture and stops, it becomes a king and can play as one on its next turn.
