Your journey in Hollow Era begins in a state akin to a Soul Spirit. To transition into a Shinigami, or Soul Reaper, you'll need to engage with the first quest presented by the NPC known as Hurt Shinigami. She's in dire need of assistance, and by accepting her call, you commit to the path of the Shinigami. There's no going back to play as a Hollow unless you choose the route of becoming Visored later. If you're set on exploring the Hollow path, our separate guide on Hollow progression will be your roadmap.
During the critical moment of choosing between Shinigami and Hollow, timing is key. Opting for Hollow requires you to break your chain, whereas choosing Shinigami means your chain will start breaking slowly over time. Every two minutes, a section of the chain breaks, and if you let it break entirely, you'll become a Hollow. In such a scenario, refer to our resurrection moves lists for your Hollow endgame strategy.
Your initial quest as a Shinigami involves purifying 6 Lost Souls, a task aligned with the Shinigami's duty to maintain balance between life and death. Following this, you'll find another quest from an NPC near Hurt Shinigami, requiring you to deliver a letter to a Doctor friend by the hospital.
These early quests are perfect for learning your powers. Consider purchasing a $1,000 random sword of power at a Urakara shop. If funds allow, invest in the bus stop as a teleport/fast travel option for $200, as the game's map is vast. Alternatively, you can opt for infinite fast travel from the Robux Shop for 149 Robux.
Subsequent quests are marked with a red crosshair. Your journey continues with tasks such as defeating a Hollow, then 5 Corrupted Shinigamis, and so forth, until you reach level 15. Quests in Hollow Era are categorized into repeatable quests, progression quests, and those tied to specific paths like Vizard and Airwalk.
Maximize your Shinigami potential by strategically allocating your skill points across the Reiatsu Skill Tree. This tree features powerful abilities known as Kido, exclusive to Shinigami.
The tree includes Kido nodes, enhancing your Kido skill damage, and Reiatsu nodes, boosting your maximum Reiatsu output. Here's a breakdown of key Kido abilities:
Reaching level 15 unlocks the Shikai Training quest from Urihiro. You'll face Urahara Kisuke for a reward of 1,700 exp. Upon completion, you can harness Shikai powers.
Warning: Tackling Kisuke at level 15 can be challenging without an optimized character. Consider grinding up to level 25 or higher before attempting this quest.
Upon unlocking Shikai, your weapon gains a random mighty ability. If the ability doesn't suit your style, you can re-roll it at Urahara Shop for a fee.
The game features a Rage Bar, which fills as you deal or take damage. When full, press Y (default keybind) to activate Shikai, which deactivates upon depleting your Reiatsu or releasing the key.
Your Shikai Mastery Level is determined by Mastery Points earned from using Shikai Skills. Higher Mastery Levels reduce the Rage Bar consumption during Shikai use, enhancing your aura and granting unique effects:
Choosing the Shinigami path initially locks you out of playing as a Hollow. However, becoming a Visored allows you to break this barrier using your Hollow Mask.
To pursue the Vizard fighting style, you must reach level 50 or higher. This unlocks the Vizard quest at the Vizard’s Warehouse, where you'll encounter the concept of Hogyoku—an orb that can shatter the divide between Hollow and Shinigami.
To acquire a Hogyoku, you must defeat the King of Hueco Mundo, a boss with a mere 1% drop rate. This is the first step toward Visored progression, followed by mastering the Vizard fighting style.
As a Visored, you gain access to new abilities and buffs. Mask Control reduces the risk of your Hollow taking over, while the Visored node extends mask duration and amplifies damage output with your newfound Hollow powers.
At the time of writing, Bankai is not available in Hollow Era. Given the game's popularity, it's anticipated that Bankai will be introduced in future updates. However, no release date has been confirmed, so stay tuned for potential updates.
