In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll carve a path through ancient China, battling alongside various warlords. But eventually, a crucial decision awaits: choosing your allegiance. Here's how faction selection works.

Understanding Factions in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*

The game unfolds in chapters. The first two chapters feature the Wanderer, your character, as a neutral party. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate. However, Chapter 3 presents a pivotal choice: you must pledge allegiance to one of the three factions.

Before making your decision, the game provides opportunities to get acquainted with each faction. Complete a specific number of missions for each: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Once you've met the requirement for a faction, a new mission will trigger, forcing you to choose an ally. If you've completed a faction's missions, that faction will be selectable; otherwise, it will be unavailable. You can, of course, complete missions for all factions before committing.

Your choice is permanent. Once you select a faction, the others become inaccessible for the remainder of the game. You'll lose access to side quests from the unchosen factions, and your bond with their officers will remain stagnant. This can impact gameplay difficulty; for example, choosing Liu Bei's initially smaller faction might limit early skill point acquisition opportunities.
