Epic Games' Weekly Freebie: Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Escape Academy is the Epic Games Store's free game offering for January 16th, 2025. This escape-room style puzzle game is the fourth free title offered by EGS this year and boasts the highest critical acclaim of the EGS free games in 2025 so far.

Epic Games Store users have a week, until January 23rd, to claim their free copy of Escape Academy.

Developed by Coin Crew Games, Escape Academy challenges players to train as "escape room masters" within the game's academy setting. Originally released in July 2022 for PC and consoles, this title is now returning as a freebie on the EGS platform, replacing Turmoil.

A Previous EGS Freebie

While Escape Academy was previously offered as a free mystery game on the EGS on January 1st, 2024, this giveaway marks its first full-week availability. This timing is particularly beneficial for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as Escape Academy is leaving the service on January 15th after an 18-month run.

The game offers both solo and multiplayer options (online and split-screen), with its co-op mode widely praised.

Escape Academy represents the fourth free game offered by the Epic Games Store in 2025, following Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Hell Let Loose, and Turmoil. The announcement of the fifth free game is expected on January 16th, coinciding with Escape Academy's availability. Two DLC packs, "Escape From Anti-Escape Island" and "Escape From the Past," are available for purchase separately at $9.99 each or bundled together in a Season Pass for $14.99.
