Mastering the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Risk and Reward

In Phasmophobia, utilizing Cursed Possessions to locate ghosts involves calculated risk for substantial rewards. The Haunted Mirror stands out as a relatively safe option, offering significant advantages. This guide details its use and the broader context of Cursed Objects.

Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia

The Haunted Mirror's value lies in its ability to reveal the ghost's preferred room. This panoramic view significantly accelerates the investigation, allowing for strategic equipment placement before the situation escalates. Its location is fixed within each map, although its appearance is random. You'll typically find it hanging on a wall or on the floor.

To activate the mirror, pick it up and use the appropriate interaction button (mouse or controller). The reflection displays the ghost's current haunt. On Professional difficulty and above, remember the ghost's location can change over time.

Caution: prolonged viewing depletes sanity. Holding it for the entire duration shatters the mirror, triggering a Cursed Hunt at your location. Use it wisely when sanity levels are high.

Cursed Possessions (or Cursed Objects) are unique items spawning randomly across maps, with frequency potentially influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode. Unlike standard equipment, which offers low-risk ghost detection, Cursed Objects provide strategic advantages but pose considerable risk to your character's well-being.

The risk-reward balance varies among Cursed Objects. Their use is entirely optional; no penalties exist for ignoring them. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless adjusted in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist:

  • Summoning Circle
  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
