Path of Exile 2's Early Access release has players eager to master their chosen class. While not technically subclasses, Ascendancies offer unique specializations and abilities. This guide details how to unlock and utilize these powerful enhancements.
Before accessing Ascendancies, complete a Trial of Ascendancy. Currently, the Act 2 Trial of the Sekhemas or the Act 3 Trial of Chaos are available. Completing either unlocks Ascendancy selection and grants two passive Ascendancy Points. The earlier Act 2 trial is recommended for quicker access to enhanced abilities.
Six classes are currently playable, each with two Ascendancy choices. More classes and Ascendancies are planned for the full release.
Witch Hunter: This Ascendancy boosts offense, defense, and battlefield control with buffs like Culling Strike and No Mercy. Ideal for players who enjoy debuffing enemies and maximizing damage output.
Gemling Legionnaire: Focuses on Skill Gems, allowing extra skill slots and additional buffs. Offers flexibility for customizing your Mercenary's build.
Invoker: Channels elemental powers and inflicts status effects, perfect for melee-focused elemental damage.
Acolyte of Chayula: Employs shadow powers instead of Spirit, offering defensive, healing, and damage-boosting abilities. A unique, shadow-based alternative.
Deadeye: Enhances ranged combat with increased speed, damage, and accuracy (Eagle Eyes, Called Shots). A powerful choice for archer builds.
Pathfinder: Utilizes poison and elemental damage through abilities like Poisonous Concoction and Contagious Contamination. A refreshing alternative to traditional ranged builds.
Stormweaver: Amplifies elemental abilities with Elemental Storm and increased elemental damage. A solid choice for enhancing existing elemental caster playstyles.
Chronomancer: Manipulates time to control cooldowns and enhance spellcasting. A dynamic option for strategic combat.
Titan: Focuses on massive damage and tankiness with skills like Stone Skin, Crushing Impacts, and Surprising Strength. Ideal for players who enjoy a robust, damage-dealing tank.
Warbringer: Summons Ancestral Spirits and Totems for support and additional damage. A great option for melee combat with summoned allies.
Blood Mage: Drains enemy life to restore health and boosts damage from lingering wounds and curses. Offers a unique life-manipulating playstyle.
Infernalist: Summons a Hellhound and can shapeshift into a powerful Demon form, unleashing fire damage. A strong choice for elemental damage and minion support.
