Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Directed Mode Doubles Main Quest Completion Rate
Activision has announced that the introduction of Directed Mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies has significantly boosted main quest completion rates. While many players prioritize survival in the wave-based gameplay, Directed Mode has successfully engaged a larger portion of the player base with the game's overarching narrative.
The Zombies mode, a staple since World at War, has always featured a complex storyline that has grown increasingly intricate over time. Despite a decline in the overall Black Ops 6 player base, the Zombies community remains strong. However, the focus on upgrading weapons and surviving waves often overshadowed the story for many players.
Directed Mode, launched in Season 1, has proven highly effective. Data from 480 million hours of gameplay reveals an impressive increase in main quest completion – from a mere 4% to 8.23%. While this represents a doubling of completions, Treyarch acknowledges that over 90% of players still haven't finished the main quest and are exploring further improvements.
Directed Mode: A Game Changer
Included in Season 1 alongside three new maps and two additional game modes, Directed Mode provides structured guidance for players navigating the intricate Zombies storyline. This is particularly beneficial, considering the storyline's complex elements, including interdimensional travel and manipulation of time and energy. Previous Zombies installments largely left players to decipher the narrative independently.
Directed Mode offers a more accessible path to experiencing the story, potentially leading to even higher completion rates in future updates. Treyarch's ongoing support for Black Ops 6 suggests further refinements to both Zombies and Directed Mode are on the horizon.
