Having successfully escaped Fort Joy and getting the Source collar removed in Divinity: Original Sin 2, you find yourself on the Elven ship, Lady Vengeance. Your next objective is to get the ship sailing, but the Lady Vengeance isn't an ordinary ship, meaning it cannot be controlled from the helm, and you must find an unconventional way to get the ship moving.
You'll need to explore this ship and speak to the various NPCs and potenial companions aboard to gather the necessary information about the ship and the mechanism to control it. Essentially, you must gain access to magister Dallis' cabin and read the Ancient Songbook before singing the song to the ship. If you're stuck trying to figure out a way to get the ship moving, the guide below will walk you through the steps and help you progress through the chapter.
The task of getting Lady Vengeance to sail is essentially a puzzle, the solutions to which are scattered across the ship. To kick the investigation off, begin by looting the magister and gheist bodies on the ship's deck for valuables and clues. One of the dead magisters' bodies includes a Sodden Diary, with the password to unlock a special door in the ship's cabin.
You can also learn the password to the Stateroom Door by passing a skill check when interacting with the northern Stateroom Door.
In addition to acquiring the password to the Portside Stateroom door, you must also find yet another important item to even interact with the door — a Strange Gem.
There's a magic mirror a short distance south of the stateroom doors. You can use it respec your character and companions indefinitely. If you decide to persuade the second stateroom door for the password, you can use the magic mirror to reallocate ability points to pass a check.
With the password in hand, you can enter the ship's quarters to find the next item to interact with the Portside Stateroom door. While you're in the ship's quarters, consider interacting with the NPCs aboard the ship and invite suitable companions to your party when you have the chance. To the west of the cabin is an unconscious Bishop Alexander, now in a Source collar, and to the east are a pair of mysterious Stateroom doors.
Before interacting with the Stateroom doors, make your way to Bishop Alexander and interact with him to bring up a few investigative options. Choose the option to "Look closely at his simple Regalia" to discover a Strange Gem. Slip the gem into your inventory, and now head back all the way east to interact with the Stateroom door.
Once at the Stateroom doors, interact with the southern door and the door will automatically acknowledge you for possessing the Strange Gem. However, unlocking it still requires a password, which you already learned upon reading the Sodden Diary. Choose the dialogue option that includes "Fortitude" as the password to unlock the door. The stateroom door grants you access to magister Dallis' cabin, where you must pick up the next item to progress in solving the puzzle.
Dallis' cabin also includes a hidden hatch that includes two deadly gheists and a Teleportation Prism.
Once inside Magister Dallis' cabin, you'll encounter yet another key NPC, Tarquin. It's recommended to speak to Dallis and exhaust all his dialogue options before proceeding to explore Dallis' cabin. This cabin is quite small, and it shouldn't be too much of a problem to locate the Ancient Empire Songbook, as it sits on a pedestal in the middle of the cabin. Reading the songbook will evoke a comment from your character, mentioning the cryptic text.
Consider speaking to all NPCs before moving the ship, as once the ship starts to sail, you won't have the opportunity to interact with the various NPCs or swap companions.
Having learned the song to move the ship, return to the ship's deck and interact with Malady. Let Malady know that you've discovered the tome, and in turn she asks you to sing the song to the ship. Now, while on the deck, head all the way to the west of the ship to find the dragon figurine. Interact with the figurine and choose the option to sing the song. Lady Vengeance will now acknowledge you, and you can proceed to learn more about the ship before setting sail for the next mystery in your Godwoken journey.
Immediately after getting the ship to move, you'll be ambushed by powerful magisters and must face a challenging battle. So, make sure that your party isn't short of companions.
