Get ready to face off with a Hollywood heavyweight! The upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 just unveiled its Johnny Cage, and it's none other than Karl Urban (known for The Boys and Judge Dredd). Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat, shared a poster designed as a faux Johnny Cage movie—complete with the over-the-top action you'd expect. Think flaming motorcycles and plenty of swagger.
Mortal Kombat 2 directly follows the 2021 reboot, featuring the return of Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, and Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero. Joining the fray are several newcomers: Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi. Urban’s casting as Johnny Cage adds another layer of excitement to the already star-studded sequel.
Initially planned for a theatrical release, the first Mortal Kombat film debuted on HBO Max due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mortal Kombat 2, however, is set for a theatrical release on October 24, 2025. Our review of the first film awarded it a 7, praising its "spectacular display of blood, guts, and effects-heavy martial arts battles.”
