Wuthering Waves' elemental system has evolved significantly with Version 2.0. Initially, elements provided character buffs and enemy resistances, but lacked deep team synergies. The update introduces Elemental Effects, allowing for more direct interactions beyond passive enhancements.
Elemental Status Effects and Debuffs
While elements have always influenced combat, Version 2.0 makes them more active. Each element now has a unique status effect applied via specific attacks. These effects often function as damage over time (DoT). Dodging removes effect stacks.
Elemental Effect | Effect Description |
---|---|
Havoc Bane | Stacks up to 2; at 2 stacks, deals Havoc DMG and reapplies to nearby characters. |
Glacio Chafe | Reduces movement speed per stack; at 10 stacks, freezes the resonator. Players can "Struggle" to thaw faster. |
Spectro Frazzle | Stacks decrease to deal Spectro DMG; more stacks = more DMG. |
Fusion Burst | Stacks up to 10; at 10 stacks, explodes, dealing Fusion DMG. |
Aero Erosion | Deals Aero DMG periodically; more stacks = more DMG. |
Electro Flare | Reduces ATK by 5% (1-4 stacks), 7% (5-9 stacks, plus Magnetized effect), or 10% (10 stacks). |
Resonators, Echoes, and Echo Sets
Currently, the utilization of Elemental Effects is limited. Only a few Resonators, Echoes, and Echo Sets interact with them.
Resonators Applying Elemental Effects:
Currently, only the reworked Spectro Rover (available post-Version 2.0 storyline) can apply Elemental Effects. Its Resonance Skill's Resonating Spin variant applies Spectro Frazzle stacks and a Shimmer effect, preventing stack decay.
Echoes and Echo Sets:
Only one Echo Set, Eternal Radiance, and its Echo, Nightmare, currently benefit from Elemental Effects, primarily supporting Spectro Rover.
In conclusion, while Elemental Effects are a new, impactful mechanic in Wuthering Waves, their current implementation is largely focused on the Spectro Rover and specific Echo Set. Future updates may expand their use across more characters and elements.
