Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove the in-game message feature, a surprising decision given FromSoftware's history. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained that the approximately forty-minute gameplay sessions are too short to allow players sufficient time to leave or read messages.
"Due to the roughly forty-minute session length, there's insufficient time for sending or reading messages; hence, we disabled this feature," Ishizaki stated.
This change marks a departure from previous FromSoftware titles, where player messages significantly enhanced the experience and community interaction. However, the developers deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. The game promises a fresh adventure, introducing new challenges and encounters while retaining the distinctive atmosphere and complexity of the Elden Ring world.
