A bug in Marvel Rivals is causing reduced damage output for certain heroes at lower FPS settings (30 FPS), impacting gameplay for some players. Affected heroes include Dr. Strange, Wolverine, Magik, Star-Lord, and Venom, with reports suggesting diminished damage on some or all of their attacks at lower frame rates. The developers have acknowledged this issue and are actively working on a fix.
The problem appears linked to the game's client-side prediction mechanism, a common programming technique to minimize perceived lag. However, in this instance, it's causing discrepancies in damage calculations at lower FPS. While the full extent of affected heroes and abilities hasn't been officially detailed, Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw abilities are confirmed to be impacted. The effect is more pronounced against stationary targets.
The team is aiming to resolve this in the upcoming Season 1 update, launching January 11th. While the Season 1 patch may not completely eliminate the problem, the developers are committed to a full resolution in a subsequent update if necessary.
Despite this issue, Marvel Rivals, released in early December 2025, has been well-received by the community, boasting an 80% approval rating on Steam based on over 132,000 reviews. This positive reception highlights the game's overall appeal, even with the current FPS-related damage bug.
